Urbania – Istanbul – Framed

In Dubai, New York or elsewhere, facing an architecture uprooted from its environment, I was fascinated by our tendency to transform the natural space in an incongruous manner, into canvases of strange beauty and surrealism.

Aiming to convey the pervasive character of our influence, I used light and welcoming tones to provide an impression of the familiar and comfortable but used elements placed as UFOs in the frame to create an odd feeling: a mosque watching over the work of ghost bulldozers abandoned by their drivers; visitors on a tiled theater scene gathering toward two futuristic towers, as a gateway framed by the statues of two gods of modernity.

With these shapes I intended to suggest a possible urban dystopia from which man is meant to eventually disappear, as the result of its own incongruity.
